Prayer for Now

I am breathing in the mystery of the universe

May I remember, when my heart breaks
Great Beingness of all
May I remember your endless love

I am breathing in the mystery of the universe

One breath at a time

I cry for the lonely places
Where I long to meet my brothers and sisters
And there is no bridge

May I remember bridges of ancient and modern times
May I draw solace and inspiration from
Ancestors and bold warriors of light

I am breathing in the mystery of the universe

One step at a time

Tragedy would overwhelm me
Humankind thrashing around for an unknown,
undiscovered something
May I drink faith like sacred salve

I am breathing in the mystery of the universe

One sip at a time

May each breath anchor me to You
May each step dance me whole
May each sip fill and ground me

In the mystery of the universe
